Jennifer Murray started Only Georgia in 2020, right in the middle of the pandemic, as a way to support local businesses. Jennifer says she expected to love shopping for and packaging the gift boxes the most, but that she has been surprised to find that she loves the relationships she's developed with other small businesses even more. We asked her to share a little about her inspiration for founding her business:
"While living in Athens and attending The University of Georgia, I developed a love for the city and all of the unique things that make Athens special. In 2017, my family moved to Watkinsville, right down the street from our beloved Classic City. With the move, I had a desire to share the city with my kids, so I set out to uncover the best local products made by small businesses right here in Athens.
I launched Only Georgia during the pandemic after our regular babysitter graduated from UGA and I wanted to find something meaningful to gift her as a reminder of The Classic City. I boxed up some of our local favorites and imagined other busy people looking for the same kind of gifting options."
