Athens Academy is pleased to screen the IndieFlix documentary Angst for the entire Athens community, free of charge, on Tuesday, September 18, 2018, beginning at 7:00 p.m. in the Harrison Center Performance Hall. The screening will be followed by a Q&A panel featuring Chris Mayo, LCSW, of the Georgia Center for OCD and Anxiety, as well as school and Learning Resource counselors.
The documentary explores anxiety in children and young adults with the goal of starting a global conversation. Designed to be screened at schools and community centers, Angst features candid interviews with children and young adults discussing their anxiety, along with advice from mental health experts and resources and tools. Olympic swimmer Michael Phelps participated in the movie, opening up about his own personal struggles with anxiety.
Athens Academy will offer a Q&A panel following the screening, featuring the following guest experts:
- Chris Mayo, LCSW, of the Georgia Center for OCD and Anxiety
- Daley Connelly, M.Ed., CRC, certified rehabilitation counselor; coordinator of Athens Academy’s Learning Resource Center
- Morgan Z. Jones, Ed.S., specialist in professional school counseling; Lower and Preschool counselor at Athens Academy
- Carrie Olson, Ed.S., specialist in professional school counseling; Middle School counselor at Athens Academy
- Bob Sears, NCC, nationally board certified counselor; director of Student Services at Athens Academy
