Does your child have a favorite park, playground, splash pad, hiking trail, ice cream shop, or family-friendly spot in Athens or Oconee County?
This summer, I'm inviting the kids in our community to become Mac KID Athens JR Reporters!
Being a JR Reporter gives our youth the opportunity to get out and explore, practice their writing skills, and share their favorite local spots with other families from their personal point-of-view (and help to prevent that pesky "summer slide" while school is out 😉).
Whether your child loves to write, take photos, tell stories, or simply share their adventures, I'd love to hear from them! Those who take the time to tackle this project will have their hard work featured on the Mac KID Athens website and social media platforms.
What Are The Responsibilities Of a JR Reporter?
Children who register to become a JR Reporter will need to:
- Write a short article (150-500 words) that includes:
- A brief introduction
- Main body paragraph
- Closing paragraph
- Take 1-5 photos
That's it! Parents, you can certainly help with sentence structure and grammar. The main goal of this project is for kids to have FUN.
How Will Their Work Be Shared?
Selected JR Reporter submissions will be:
- Published as a dedicated article on the Mac KID Athens website
- Featured on Mac KID Athens social media platforms
- Included in the weekly e-Newsletter
- Shared with thousands of local families looking for fun things to do!
Each published article will credit the JR Reporter who created it.
