Get ready for big laughs, big heart, and a fairytale like no other! The Studio Athens is thrilled to present Shrek The Musical JR., a lively and hilarious production performed by a talented cast of young artists at the historic Morton Theatre. “This show celebrates what makes each of us unique,” says Cathy Rumfelt, director of the production. “Our students have worked incredibly hard, and we are so excited to share their joy and talent with the Athens community.”Based on the beloved DreamWorks film and Broadway musical, Shrek The Musical JR. follows everyone’s favorite ogre on an unexpected adventure. Joined by a fast-talking Donkey and a cast of misfit fairytale characters, Shrek sets out to rescue Princess Fiona—only to discover that love, friendship, and self-acceptance can be found in the most unlikely places. This high-energy production highlights the dedication and creativity of The Studio Athens performers, who have spent months building skills in acting, singing, and dance while growing in confidence and teamwork. Audiences can expect vibrant costumes, dynamic musical numbers, and plenty of laugh-out-loud moments.
