Legacy of The Oconee Enterprise
Founded in 1884 by L. Shackelford, The Oconee Enterprise has long been a trusted source of news and a vital part of the Oconee County community. As one of the few remaining locally owned weekly newspapers in Georgia, it thrives today thanks to the dedication of its readers and the ongoing support of local businesses.
Comprehensive Community Coverage
The Oconee Enterprise covers a broad range of topics, from local government and schools to high school sports and community events. Additionally, there are several special sections and resources, including a high school football special and an Oconee County reference guide. Publications are released every Thursday and are available to read in print or digital form. Don't yet have a subscription but want to view the latest edition? Dedicated newspaper stands are available at various retail stores and local businesses throughout the county for you to read.
In addition to the weekly newspaper, The Oconee Enterprise publishes Oconee the Magazine four times a year (one for each season), which features long-form journalism, recipes and special-interest stories.
