Make your own non-toxic play dough at home!

Encourage creativity at home with 'Brella Studio's easy homemade play dough recipe, using ingredients you probably already have in your kitchen!

This dough is non-toxic for little mouths, lasts much longer than store-bought "Play-Doh", and doesn't get stuck all over your floors and furniture! Plus, this is just a fun DIY activity you can do with your kids any time of day.

Make multiple batches of all colors to make a rainbow of possible creations. 🌈

Ingredients:
  • 1/2 cup salt
  • 1 cups of warm water
  • 1 1/2 cups of flour
  • 1 tsp of cream of tartar
  • 1 Tbsp oil (vegetable or coconut)
  • food coloring (gel or regular)

Instructions:
  1. In a large bowl or pot, combine ingredients. The great thing about this recipe is that no matter which order you put ingredients in, the results are pretty consistent. Excellent for eager mess-makers.

  2. Dust a little flour onto a surface to really "play" in the dough. Depending on the lovely Georgia humidity, you may need more flour. Play with the dough until it's not sticky anymore. Divide the dough into smaller "globs" if you want to make different colors.

  3. Form each "glob" into a ball, and then press your thumb into the ball to make a sort of nest shape. Here's where you'll drip your food coloring if you so desire it. Mix and mash until combined. Bask in the resulting rainbow hands and remind yourself that kids are washable.

  4. If you feel extra fancy, add glitter, sequins, or tiny beads.

  5. Store in airtight container and this playdough can last you for months. My favorite thing about this recipe is that if it does get on carpet or  the couch, JUST LEAVE IT THERE! It will dry up and transform back to its flour-origins that can be swept or vacuumed away.

  6. If your dough is accidentally left out and becomes dry, just add a little bit of your vegetable or coconut oil to make it soft again!
I believe in you, Macaroni Parents! Be brave! Embrace the mess! You are awesome!
