Fishing with the family can be so much fun! Don't just hop in the car and head to a fishing spot though. First, you need to get an inexpensive rod and reel combo, a few hooks, tiny weights, a cork, and some bait. You should also prepare by getting your fishing license. Plan to bring some sunscreen, bug spray, drinks, snacks, and a lawn chair. If you don't have a boat, make sure the spot you choose has a good dock, pier, or grassy stretch of land.

Don't forget to have realistic expectations! Depending on your child's age, your fishing trip may not last long (especially if nothing is biting). Try to make the trip all about spending time together as a family so they don't leave disappointed if they didn't catch anything. Last, but certainly not least, please help teach your children how to respect the wildlife.
