GIVEAWAY: Dinosaur Drive-Thru

By Jules and Viv, Athens Macaroni Kid Jr Reporters March 15, 2021

Covid-19 has been putting a damper on our plans as we have been antsy to get out with the onset of the warm, spring-like weather that has been settling in around Georgia. Finding an event to go to while still feeling safe during this pandemic has been tough. After finding out about the Dinosaur Drive-Thru, we thought that this may be a diamond in the rough during this time - it did not disappoint.

After arriving at the Six Flags White Water parking lot, where the event is taking place, the first thing we noticed is that the event was very well organized and very well staffed. Staff members were there to direct us from the very beginning and they were very helpful to attend to questions. Staff members were also all wearing masks and following social distancing recommendations.

We scheduled our visit online for 4 p.m. on a Saturday. We were expecting a long line, but were surprised that it only took ten minutes to reach the beginning of the dinosaurs after entering the parking lot. The audio tour that can be played from a device is very informative and engaging with clear directions on when to start and stop the audio along the drive.

Okay - now lets get to the dinosaurs...they were INCREDIBLE! The tour allows you to drive up very close to each dinosaur. From the popular T. Rex, Triceratops, Spinosaurus, and Iguanodon to lesser known dinosaurs, there is a huge variety of dinosaurs in all sizes. They seem extremely realistic with movements, sounds, eye blinking, and “breathing.” Our daughters, 4 and 6 years old, marveled in awe and jumped around the vehicle in excitement the whole time (our whole drive lasted about 1 hour and 10 minutes). They said that they had a fun time and that the dinosaurs were amazing!

A souvenir shop is conveniently located at the beginning and end of the drive, and you do not have to leave your car. Friendly staff is available to bring your purchases out to you. Purchasable items include t-shirts, stuffed animals, balloons, dino packs (a draw-sting bag filled with items such as small toys, stamps, sunglasses, water guns, dig kits, gliders, etc.).

Overall, we were very pleased with this event and felt like it was a great way to get out, enjoy the weather, and have a blast all while staying safe.

This giveaway has ended. Congrats Ashley A.!
