Chick Music is a full service music store that is located in downtown Athens, and has been in business for more than 75 years. It was originally opened as Chick Piano in 1942 by Lewis Chick. In 1965, after Mr. Chick's passing, Chick Piano was purchased by Billy and Anne Shepherd. When the Shepherds began their band instrument rental department, the company was renamed to the style more familiar with us now, Chick Music.
Recently, Chick Music has condensed their store into a newer side of their building. Same building, just come in the door with the new sign, black awning, stairs and ramp! On the first floor, you will find instruments, accessories, and song books for sale. The second floor features beautiful windows overlooking the downtown scene, and showcases a variety of pianos. There are also five rooms where private lessons are offered. It's a great use of space and organization throughout.

Chick Music offers a lease to learn program for kids in band at school. They also provide private lessons on most instruments. Students who want to learn the ukulele, guitar, piano, violin, or drums can start lessons around age five or six. Those who wish to learn instruments like the flute or saxophone can start when they are in middle school. Chick Music has student-level instruments for beginners, as well as step-up options. The luxury of on site band instrument repair is even offered!
