Egg Carton Crafts

By Lacie Dooley, Publisher, Athens Macaroni Kid April 30, 2019

I bought way too many eggs for Easter. We dyed them, ate them, and then I had multiple egg cartons left over. I decided to turn the egg cartons into crafts, and ended up with an adorable caterpillar, flowers, and a boat! The best part, is that we already had all the needed supplies at home!

Below are instructions so you can reuse your egg cartons too.

Caterpillar

Supplies:

  • Egg Carton
  • Paint/Markers
  • Pipe Cleaner
  • Wiggle Eyes/Paper Eyes
  • Glue

Instructions:

  1. Cut out a row of the egg carton
  2. Paint or color with any colors you'd like
  3. Add the pipe cleaners for legs and antennas
  4. Glue on the eyes

Flowers

Supplies:

  • Egg Carton
  • Paint/Markers
  • Pipe Cleaner/ String

Instructions:

  1. Cut out individual pieces of the egg carton
  2. Paint or color with any colors you'd like
  3. String on the flowers and cut all four corners

Boat

Supplies:

  • Egg Carton
  • Paint/Markers
  • Pipe Cleaner/Popsicle Stick
  • Construction Paper
  • Glue

Instructions:

  1. Cut out any shape of the egg carton (row of two, a square of four, etc.) to make the hull of the boat
  2. Paint or color with any colors you'd like
  3. Cut out the sail for the boat with paper. It’s best if you cut a square, and fold it in half
  4.  Glue one half of the sail, add the pipe cleaner, and close
  5. Add the sail to the hull
