National Read Across America Day is coming up on March 2nd!

Each year, Read Across America Day is celebrated on the birthday of Theodor Seuss Geisel, aka Dr. Suess. Dr. Suess is the famous author of over 60 popular children's books. He brought fun to reading through rhyming and imaginative stories.

To celebrate, we chose our family's top 5 Dr. Suess books and added an activity to go along with them. Each activity is done with items that you already have at home. Don't forget to check out your local library for lots of books!

We hope you pick up a book and enjoy some family fun together.

1. Hop on Pop - Play hopscotch! It's a great way to teach numbers and build motor skills.

2. Cat in the Hat - Build a hat with letters. You can have the word written out on the bottom of the hat, and individual letters on each strip. For older kids, you can have words on each strip that make a sentence!

3. Mr. Brown Can Moo! Can You? - What's more fun than making noise!? Make a noise box by reusing an empty container and decorating it. Add objects from around the house that make noise. We found buttons, noodles, seashells, beads, and legos. You can also add bells, beans, and rice.

4. The Foot Book - Break out the paint and get a little messy! We took different animals, put their feet in a little paint, and made pathways with each. It's super fun to look at all the differences between each!

5. ABC - Find objects from around the house that start with each letter in the alphabet! Check out the free printable!
