Athens Macaroni Kid has been active under publisher Julia Hembree for almost two years.
I started this site in January 2014 when my family moved here from Richmond, VA so there could be a one-stop-shop for all family friendly activities around town.
I LOVE providing this FREE community resource to Athens families. We all know this parenting gig is challenging, so if there's a way to make it even a little bit easier, I am all for it!
As it turns out, publishing a weekly newsletter, keeping up with all of the family friendly events around town, trying to get the word out to local families, and creating relationships with sponsors is a lot of work. Especially for just one person! Athens Macaroni Kid is funded purely by local sponsors, and due to the nature of the small town and small businesses of Athens, there is not always a budget for local businesses to advertise. Doing all that work for free is not always fun.
In October, my husband and I will welcome our 3rd little one into the world. I am thrilled for this addition to our family, but it also means that I will not be able to dedicate as much time to the website.

I am so honored to introduce the new Athens Macaroni Kid assistant; Carol Ragin! Carol and I were actually college room-mates at UGA years ago, and she and her husband and two little ones recently moved back to the Athens area! I am so excited to work with her and see how we can keep the website thriving together.
